Tips from celebrity stylist Splash

Pamper your crowning glory
HAVING HAIR like Rapunzel would perhaps be the dream of many. But today hair fall is a nightmare for many. Stress, environmental, chemical and mechanical factors and medication take the toll of hair but all need not despair. There are ways to take good care and control of your hair. Celebrity stylist Splash (from Mumbai) shared some tips to keep hair strong and beautiful while in the city for the launch of Pantene's new range of shampoos with Amino Pro-V complex (which makes hair ten times stronger due to presence of aminos).
"When you experience hair fall, check your diet (whether you are eating right), stress level, the suitability of the hair products. Sometimes genetic factors play a role too. Consult a dermatologist or trichologist," says Splash. After the reason has been identified there are certain things one can do oneself with the help of professional advice. "Proper trimming at regular intervals by a professional ensures healthy hair." The tips outlined were not out-of-the-world or ones people are not aware of but here's a reminder once again: Brush your hair from the bottom and work upwards. Be gentle when combing or brushing wet hair. Avoid using tight clips and bands. Avoid excessive heat styling and blow-drying ceramic irons, straighteners. Keep the hair dryers at least 4-6 inches away on low-medium heat. Use mild shampoos. Avoid using soap as its alkaline content increases dryness. Wear a cap or use a scarf while going out in the sun.
"People colour or dye their hair and they think that's the end of it. They forget and I tell them how to take care."
Just follow this simple regimen for that crowning glory on the head.

HER CELEB clientele includes Aamir Khan, Fardeen Khan, Zayed Khan, Koel Purie, Laila Khan. Splash has two prized movie assignments namely The Rising and American Daylight. She has styled the hair and make-up for Aamir Khan and all the British actors in The Rising.
"Doing The Rising was a challenge. One had to ensure a natural look besides adhering to the period one," says Splash who did considerable research on the film. "We shot for six months - two months in Mumbai and the rest in different parts of the country. So my presence was required all the time on the sets."
Splash has been trained within the country and abroad in hair and make-up. She has a Masters in make-up from Los Angeles. In the hair business for eight years she opened her salon `Waters' in Mumbai almost 10 months ago. Wait and watch her fortunes rise.
