General Sky Ride Information:

Experience the Zoo in a whole new way—from the air!

With the Mountaineer Sky Ride, you'll take a chairlift-style, open-air ride that provides spectacular views of the Zoo, Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs and the plains to the east.

Soar over popular Zoo exhibits such as Rocky Mountain goats, My Big Backyard, Asian Highlands and Rocky Mountain Wild. At the top, disembark at the overview, where you can:

  • Relax on a bench and take in the breathtaking vistas.
  • Enjoy the specially designed playground and climbing wall with the kids.
  • Grab a snack or drink at Mountaineer Market (available seasonally).
  • Enjoy spectacular sunsets and relaxing evenings from atop Cheyenne Mountain.
  • Seek shelter from the unpredictable Colorado weather in an authentic yurt.

Location

The Mountaineer Sky Ride departs from Mountain Outfitters plaza at the base of the Zoo, and takes you up to the overview. Separate entrances are offered inside and outside the Zoo—so you can enjoy the Mountaineer Sky Ride with or without the Zoo experience. (Access to the Zoo is not available from the overview.)
