The Best of YouTube: Week of April 5, 2010

Single Ladies devastation

As we've seen in past editions of the Best of YouTube, the Beyonce song "Single Ladies" makes all children unnaturally happy, and compels them to dance whether they want to or not. Witness the pure joy on the faces of these three children dancing their cares away, until one participant's jerk father tells him that he's not allowed to enjoy what is probably the most magical song he's ever heard. The withering look the kid in the middle seat shoots at this man says everything I could say and more.

Grenade throw

Let's face it: if a video of you throwing a grenade winds up on YouTube for any reason at all, you probably shouldn't be allowed near a warm butter knife, let alone explosive or incendiary devices.

Dog saved by tortoise fight

There are a ton of dog-vs-turtle videos on YouTube for some strange reason, but this one has a very dramatic twist worthy of the action-move music that accompanies it, followed by a most interesting struggle.

Weird Al's grammar lesson

Who knew Weird Al Yankovic is a stickler for grammar?

Master of business card throwing

This is another viral video made to promote the video camera that filmed it, but no matter who made it, you can't help but be impressed by this young man's abilities to kill you from across the room with a simple business card.

Scenes from Tea Party rallies

If you thought U.S. President Obama's victory on the health care front would slow down the growth rate of the American Tea Party movement, well, you've seriously underestimated the birth rate of suckers in recent years, because this movement is spreading down south like a virus. A really, really dumb virus. Here are some scenes from recent Tea Party events in Nevada and Florida.

Baggy pants crusade

A U.S. senator has launched a well-meaning campaign against wearing baggy pants in public. It would appear that the "Pants On The Ground" guy has started a national movement of his in the U.S.A.

Could Guam tip over?

This U.S. Senator from Georgia evidently never paid much attention to his Science or Geography studies, and that lapse in judgment so many years ago has led to the formation of a most bizarre fear. You're not going to believe the question he poses to this amused military expert. I can't imagine living in this delusional man's world -- it must be a very scary place, because I'm afraid he believes it's possible to fall off the edge of the Earth if you go sailing too far out to sea. And besides, if that doesn't kill you, there's probably dragons out there waiting for you, too.

Martha puts a chicken to sleep

At first glance, I thought this video should be titled, "How many times does Martha have to swing a chicken over her head before it suffocates to death?" but from reading comments posted by those in the know, I have learned that the phenomenon demonstrated here has something to do with slowing a chicken's breathing by confusing its senses. Or something like that. Anyway, watch as Martha Stewart shows that she can do more than just cook a mean chicken -- she can also put them to sleep.

The secret behind Nike Air

I've always suspected Nike of conducting secret experiments and hiding much of the true nature of their business empire from the world. Are they perhaps finally coming clean, beginning with the release of this new video? No? Okay, just watch the video and forget I asked.
