A new era began for the Alouettes last night with the
addition of 5.000 seats to Percival Molson Stadium and team
president Larry Smith was able to offer some perspective on how far
the team has come since he played there in 1972.
Michael Schumacher, fallen hero. -- Or is he?
It was the worst pain of his life. But despite being hit in a
rather sensitive area by a pickoff throw Tuesday night, Carl
Crawford of the Tampa Bay Rays still will go cupless. He's tried it
before. "I run, so it pinches me when I try to run and take off. I
make diving catches (and) something could happen worse from wearing
a cup, you know? That one incident isn't going to make me change the
way I do things," Crawford told the Tampa Tribune. Rays manager Joe
Maddon, who wore one as a catcher and a third-base coach, is amazed
most players don't. "I don't think it should be required like a
helmet. But I just think for your own future -for the potential
father in you -you should wear one," he said.
It has only been a few months since the Alouettes scored a
Canadian Football League leading 600 points and 50 touchdowns.
