Quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) seeds are usually beige or pale yellow, but they can vary in colour from ivory to pink, orange to red, or brown to black.

Sisters Patricia Green and Carolyn Hemming had an early start on healthy eating. "When our mom would make homemade yogurt my sister and I would stamp our feet going, 'Why are we having homemade yogurt? Why can’t we have the yummy flavoured stuff that all the other kids eat?'" Hemming says.

Akis's recipe for simple Smoked Salmon Tartare on Cucumber Rounds, presents a significant spin on the classic dish beef tartare in which raw meat is chopped and mixed with tangy flavourings and displayed in patty-like form on a plate. The recipe is from his latest book, Everyone Can Cook for Celebrations. In this version, finely chopped smoked salmon replaces the beef. The tartare mixture is spooned on palate-refreshing slices of cucumber, making for a decedent appetizer.

French macarons -- not to be confused with chewy coconut macaroons -- are tiny dome-shaped pastry shells filled with ganache, buttercream or fruit mixtures. Enjoy the short season of spot prawns

A definition for the word delicacy is: something pleasing to eat that's considered rare or luxurious. That sounds like spot prawns to me. These succulent crustaceans are only available fresh from late spring to early summer, and I luxuriate every time I feast on them.
