The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences® celebrated the 12th anniversary of the most prestigious awards in the gaming industry on Thursday, February 19, 2009, in Las Vegas, Nevada in the Red Rock Casino & Resort's luxurious "Redrock Ballroom." In 2009, the Interactive Achievement Awards were streamed live by IGN.com and televised by the Independent Film Channel, allowing an even broader audience to witness and celebrate the achievements of top game makers.
The 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony brought together the best, brightest, and biggest names in gaming to celebrate accomplishment, creativity, and the great games from 2008.
In its continuing effort to recognize great achievements by members of the interactive software development community, the Academy proudly inducted Bruce Shelley into its Hall of Fame.
The Interactive Achievement Awards ceremony was held in the middle of the 2009 D.I.C.E (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit®, providing game industry figureheads an opportunity to communicate, network, and celebrate colleagues and competitors alike in moving the industry forward through creativity and vision.
