AIAS ANNUAL AWARDS > 1ST ANNUAL AWARDS

The Academy’s inaugural Interactive Achievement Awards were presented at a ceremony held in Atlanta at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on May 28, 1998.

GoldenEye 007, developed by Rare and published by Nintendo of America, won four awards, including overall Game of the Year and Console Game of the Year. Starcraft, developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, won two awards, including PC Game of the Year.

The Academy presented Interactive Achievement Awards in 26 craft, console, computer and online categories. The Academy also inducted Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo into the Academy's Hall of Fame.
