What are news feeds?
News feeds are a convenient, simple and free way to get the latest news and information from Teletext and other websites when it suits you.

Feeds are updated on your computer as soon as Teletext publishes new content, whether it's the latest national news headlines, new weather forecasts or the latest action from football matches.

The feeds are simply a list of the latest headlines with links back to the full articles on Teletext.co.uk or on another one of your favourite websites. The great benefit of subscribing to feeds is that you can scan through the latest headlines from many different sources in just one place.

Feeds are often called RSS which stands for “Really Simple Syndication” or "Rich Site Summary".

How do I get news feeds?

RSS feeds are easy to access.

Firstly, you need to select a feed reader or aggregator. This freely-available software will check the RSS feeds for updates and display the latest headlines for the feeds you have selected. Some feed readers can be accessed using an internet browser and some have to be downloaded.

Some web-based news readers are:
My Yahoo!
newsgator
My AOL
bloglines
netvibes
Google
Pageflakes
live.com

Once you have installed a news reader on your computer, you can then select the Teletext feeds that you want.

Simply go to the headlines page for the relevant service where the option to select an RSS feed is given – usually indicated with the universal feed icon:

Then you can:

  1. Drag the orange RSS button into your news reader; or
  2. Drag the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader; or
  3. Copy and paste the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader.

Or you can subscribe using one click if your news reader is listed among the options given.

Using Teletext news feeds on your own website

If you run your own website and want to use Teletext’s RSS feeds on it, please e-mail us at feedinfo@teletext.co.uk to obtain permission and further information. We favour the use of our feeds in this way, but we reserve the right to deny such distribution of Teletext content and we do not accept liability for it.
