Commuter Students

Commuter and Off-Campus Student OrganizationUnless you live in a residence hall, you are a commuter student. More than 75 percent of our students commute to school every day, whether they ride a bike, take a bus or drive to campus.

Kent State is committed to providing you with the same quality experience as our residential students with a variety of programs and activities. There are many resources on campus and online specifically for commuters, find out how you can stay connected to the Kent State community while living off-campus.

  • Commuter and Off-Campus Student Organization
    COSO sponsors numerous activities as well as represents commuter and off-campus students on various university committees.
  • Parking Services
    Parking Services is responsible for providing well-maintained parking lots, regulated parking areas, special event parking and on-campus assistance to stranded motorists. Parking Services also manages parking permits for Kent State faculty, staff, and students.
  • PARTA
    The Portage Area Regional Transit Authority is a bus service serving the Kent State University campus and the surrounding community.  On campus, students ride for free with their FLASHcards and can ride at a reduced rate to Akron and Cleveland.

    The CSI is committed to enhancing your college experience and helping you succeed in both your academic and out-of-class endeavors at Kent State.
