A high-end steakhouse makes perfect sense in the Napa Valley, a region known for bold Cabernet Sauvignon. At Press diners can order the biggest wine and have confidence no fear that it will go with just about everything on the menu crafted by Stephen Rogers. It's a bit galling that with such high prices that a sauce is $2 extra, but with steaks this good, you don't need embellishments. Rogers also creates a few non-beef dishes, including whole rotisserie chicken to share and grilled striped bass with baby artichokes. With the huge fireplace and windows overlooking stands of Japanese maples, it's one of the most beautiful interiors in the valley. Service is professional, and cocktails are exceptional.
Specialties: Wagyu beef and other wood-grilled steaks; truffled macaroni and cheese; hand-chopped steak tartare; chocolate souffle; foot-long Kobe hot dog at the bar.
Dinner 5:30-10:30 p.m. Wed.-Sun.
