Lots of restaurants have beautiful oysters, but eating them at the Hog Island oyster bar in San Francisco's Ferry Building feels as if you're eating at the source. The company of the same name supplies oysters to hundreds of restaurants from coast to coast. Diners enjoy iced trays of prime oysters, surrounded by the bustle of farmers' market shoppers. Or take your food to a table outside overlooking the water, where the ferries load and unload. The menu includes good salads, specials such as local sardines, and a nicely edited collection of wine and beer.
