Fashionably Late: No jokes about Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP

By now nearly every Web site devoted to the trivial side of life has slammed '90s "it" girl and Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow. (See: here, here, here, here and here). First Paltrow called her daughter Apple Blythe Alison and now she's calling her soon-to-launch lifestyle site -- wait for it -- GOOP.

Paltrow's critics also joke about her diet and exercise routine, her wood-burning pizza oven and even her Spanish road trip with celebrity chef Mario Batali.

But we will do no such thing. In fact, Gwyneth, if you're reading this, we wouldn't mind interviewing you about your foray into Oprah, Martha Stewart and Rachael Ray territory.

The site itself is simple and elegant. A white background with the phrase "GOOP: nourish the inner aspect" reveals a list of subcategories: MAKE, GO, GET, DO, BE and SEE. Each link, which we assume will eventually lead to Paltrow's "favorite things," now brings up an essay.

Writes Paltrow:

My life is good because I am not passive about it. I want to nourish what is real, and I want to do it without wasting time. I love to travel, to cook, to eat, to take care of my body and mind, to work hard.

On motherhood:

I love being a mother who has to overcome my bad qualities to be a good mother.

On what she brings to the table:

Whether you want a good place to eat in London, some advice on where to stay in Austin, the recipe I made up this week, or some thoughts from one of my sages, GOOP is a little bit of everything that makes up my life.

Parting advice:

Make your life good. Invest in what's real. Cook a meal for someone you love. Pause before reacting. Clean out your space. Read something beautiful. Treat yourself to something. Go to a city you've never been to. Learn something new. Don't be lazy. Workout and stick with it. GOOP. Make it great.

So, Gwyneth, have your people call our people.

Fashionably Late: OMG, Ashton Kutcher. Blah, Blah, Blah.

Welcome to the first edition of Fashionably Late: "Because sometimes we're just too busy to post on time."

A couple weeks ago a bunch of people you've probably never heard of gathered in San Francisco for TechCrunch50, a three-day conference where 50 of the hottest new start-ups launched in front of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and the press.

Among the attendees were very rich people, rich people, people looking to get rich, people famous on the Internet, people looking to get famous on the Internet and not rich/not famous people who will no doubt stay that way.

And then there was Ashton Kutcher, who launched his latest project, Blah, Blah, Blah, a Web site and animated video series that offers a glance at style and pop culture from the perspective of three potty-mouthed teenagers called the Blah Girls.

Rendered by artist Todd Goldman, founder of David and Goliath, the Blah Girls chug Formula 50 Vitamin Water (product placement opportunities!), serve the "skinny" on the girls of "90210" (cross promotion opportunities!) and gush about Suri Cruise's "cellulite-free" body.

From Katalyst Media (Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg) comes Blah, Blah, Blah.
