Summer TrailsTrail of the Molten Lands -- Trail #3922
ACCESS: At the base of Lava Butte at Lava Lands Visitor Center. DESCRIPTION: In Newberry National Volcanic Monument. From Lava Lands Visitor Center the trail loops out across the lava flow to its source at the base of Lava Butte. Interpretive signs about volcanic features on the flow. Paved trail with some sections too steep for wheelchairs. FEE: Trailhead is a Recreation Pass Site - Vehicle Permit - $5.00 Day Pass or $30.00 Annual Pass or other valid Recreation Passes LENGTH: 0.75 mile loop ELEVATION (low): 4500 feet ELEVATION (high): 4550 feet SEASON: Summer & Fall DIFFICULTY: Easy RECOMMENDED USES: Hiking PROHIBITED USES: Horses, mountain biking |
