Tori Spelling's case of swine flu; rapper Common is 'definitely single'; Ozzy Osbourne goes veggie

Tori Spelling's 2009 hospitalization was result of swine flu

Actress Tori Spelling has opened up about the mystery stomach ailment, which left her hospitalized last year -- she was suffering from swine flu.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star sparked fears for her health in September when she was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital with severe abdominal pains.

She was discharged hours later and her representative refused to comment on the diagnosis, stating Spelling had to undergo further tests at a later date.

She was forced to return to hospital again in November after experiencing more stomach pains and she spent 10 days under doctors' care.

Tabloid reports speculated the hospitalization was linked to an eating disorder after Spelling was snapped sporting a drastically skinnier figure, but the star continued to deny the claims.

Until now, Spelling has refused to comment on the health problem that caused her so much pain, but she's revealing all in her new memoir, "Uncharted TerriTORI."

The star, 37, confesses she was struck down with a severe bout of swine flu, but was too embarrassed to admit it in public, especially after years of enduring cruel comments about her appearance.

She writes, "I was horrified. Swine flu was still a new phenomenon. News reports were describing a killer virus. If they got wind of my diagnosis the press would have a field day. Would they add this to the checklist? First I had a horse face, now I had the pig flu."

But Spelling insists she has overcome the virus and is working on piling on the pounds, reports People magazine.

She adds, "Now I'm on probiotics and vitamins. ... I weigh 101 (pounds) -- my goal weight is 115. Finally I feel there's hope."

Rapper/actor Common has put an end to speculation about his relationship with tennis ace Serena Williams, declaring himself "definitely" single.

The hip-hop star was rumored to have split from Williams last month, but he recently dismissed the claims and insisted he had plans to visit his girlfriend of two years in Paris, where she was competing in the French Open Championships.

But the couple has now parted ways for good.

Common tells Chicago's Fox News, "I am single. I am a single man, definitely."

Ozzy Osbourne goes veggie

Bat-munching rocker Ozzy Osbourne is on an unlikely health kick -- he's become a vegetarian.

The former Black Sabbath front man shocked fans and angered animal lovers when he famously bit the head off a bat onstage in 1982.

But the rock wild man's flesh-eating days are over -- he's embarked on a meat-free diet.

Osbourne tells Britain's Sunday Times Magazine, "I've pretty much become a vegetarian. Seriously. It's my new phase: brown rice and vegetables. I don't even drink milk, apart from a splash in my tea. It ain't because of the animals. I mean, I used to work in a slaughterhouse. You won't see me marching over the frozen tundra, hunting down people who club seals. I just can't digest meat any more.

Lindsay Lohan's lawyer wants trial delayed

Lindsay Lohan's attorney is appealing to a Los Angeles judge to delay the start of a civil trial stemming from the actress' 2007 arrest for driving under the influence because he fears jury members will struggle to remain impartial.

The "Mean Girls" star is being sued by three men who have accused her of kidnapping and endangering their lives when she allegedly jumped into a vehicle they were passengers in and took off on a wild ride through Malibu, Calif.

She was forced to give a deposition in May after skipping two voluntary hearings, and the case is due to go to trial.

But Lohan's lawyer, Ed McPherson, wants the trial to be postponed, arguing that the daily press coverage of his client's personal troubles make it impossible for a jury to rule fairly and without influence from the media.

He also highlights the public's negative attitude towards Lohan and her legal battles, insisting people are watching and waiting for her to fail.

In legal papers obtained by TMZ.com, McPherson states, "Every facet of the criminal proceeding and every facet of Ms. Lohan's life ... have been reported on TMZ and other media outlets literally on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis.

"There are current widespread public feelings of intense negativity against Ms. Lohan ..."

McPherson is expected to file the documents in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday.

Lohan is currently fighting allegations she violated the terms of her probation relating to her 2007 arrest after her alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet was set off during a star-studded event in Hollywood on Sunday.

Last month, a judge ordered the actress to abstain from drugs and alcohol for the foreseeable future after she failed to complete an alcohol awareness course, which was handed to her as part of her sentence in 2007.

"Glee" star Chris Colfer was left red faced after realizing he had relieved himself in a prop toilet.

The actor was caught short in the middle of filming and dashed to the nearest lavatory to pee only to realize the toilet wasn't supposed to be used.

The 20-year-old was mortified when he discovered he'd urinated in a prop toilet for TV series "Monk."

He recalls, "One night we were working really late and I had, like, 27 Diet Cokes and I had to use the restroom really bad. ... I noticed the toilet wouldn't flush, and the sink wasn't working either. I looked up and realized there was no ceiling, and then I realized, 'Oh my God, I'm on a soundstage. No music career for rock offspring Daisy Lowe

Daisy Lowe has ruled out a music career because she could never live up to the success of her rocker parents Gavin Rossdale and Pearl Lowe.

British model Lowe was brought up by her mother and only learned Rossdale was her biological father in 2004 after demanding a paternity test.

They now enjoy a closer relationship, but Lowe is adamant she won't be following her parents into a rock 'n' roll career.

She tells Britain's Esquire magazine, "I've definitely put a block on doing music. My parents were always so good at what they did, and that was their forte.

"It's a case of I'm never going to be them, so I'm just going to let them take the floor. Music kind of took them away from home when I was a kid, and I want a family so I don't want to go on tour."

Jesse James' personal life to be kept out of clothing lawsuit

Sandra Bullock's estranged husband, Jesse James, has won a court bid to keep details about his scandalous personal life out of a legal dispute over a clothing contract.

The TV mechanic is facing a civil lawsuit from bosses at Fortune Fashions Industries amid allegations he pulled out of a deal to produce a line of garments inspired by his work wear.

Last month, James' lawyer filed a request in Los Angeles County Superior Court asking the judge to ban the opposition from making any references to his damaged reputation, which has taken a hit since March, when Bullock walked out on him after his infidelities were revealed in the press.

He was further shamed by the release of controversial pictures showing him posing in military gear and appearing to give a Nazi salute.

But his personal controversies will not be brought up in the impending trial -- a judge granted his lawyer's motion on Tuesday, reports TMZ.com.

Jury selection is expected to begin on Wednesday.

Katy Perry surprised her fiance, Russell Brand, with an out-of-this-world birthday present -- the pop star bought him a trip into space.

The "I Kissed A Girl" hit maker threw the funny man a surprise bash to mark his 35th birthday last week, inviting all of Brand's close friends and family members to celebrate at Los Angeles' Little Door restaurant.

She treated the Brit to a cake decorated with the Union Jack flag and later left her beau speechless by presenting him with the rocket trip into space.

Perry donned an astronaut's suit to deliver her gift, which is said to have cost a whopping $150,000.

A source tells Britain's The Sun, "Russell thought it was just him and Katy going for dinner. He was bowled over when he walked into the restaurant and saw she had got all his pals and family together for a surprise party.

"Halfway through the dinner she walked in wearing a full astronaut outfit to give Russell the space trip. Everyone cheered for the Brit cake. Katy knows how proud he is of his roots."
