Jujitsu/Jujutsu

Jujitsu dates back to the samurai era and was developed to help the armored warriors attack unprotected targets—necks, wrists, ankles—with chokes and joint locks. Since then, jujitsu has become the parent of many other popular martial arts, such as judo, aikido and hapkido. While it’s considered a self-defense style, it has become popular in competitions, especially Brazilian jiu-jitsu. At one time, jujitsu practitioners trained with weapons, but modern training emphasizes empty-hand combat.
