NEW YORK, May 28 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices held under $75 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday after a commodities surge in the previous session.
July delivery crude oil prices added $4 per barrel Thursday as commodity traders caught an updraft from equities, which rose after China said it would not divest itself of European government bonds.
Crude oil prices headed slightly higher early Friday, adding 6 cents to reach $74.61 per barrel.
Heating oil prices added 0.0131 cents from a prior settlement to $2.0228 per gallon. Reformulated gasoline blendstock prices rose 0.0036 cents to $2.039 per gallon. Henry Hub natural gas prices lost 0.022 cents to $4.272 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price for unleaded regular gasoline dropped to $2.749 per gallon Friday from Thursday's $2.759, AAA said.
