Newport Beach welcomed the West Santa Ana Heights neighborhood to our city of neighborhoods on January 1, 2008.

The City of Newport Beach's annexation of West Santa Ana Heights was approved by the Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) on September 12, 2007. The annexation will take effect on January 1, 2008. At that time, residents within the mapped area will become residents of Newport Beach and will receive City services like police, fire, emergency medical, library, parks and recreation, senior services, and community development.

Please note that annexations do not necessarily affect school district boundaries, area codes, water and sewer district boundaries -- only traditional municipal services like those listed in paragraph two. However, effective July 6, 2009, the U.S. Postal Service changed the zip code for this area to 92660.

If you have additional questions about the Newport Beach annexation of West Santa Ana Heights, please e-mail Dave Kiff, Assistant City Manager dkiff@city.newport-beach.ca.us.

Below is a map of the proposed annexation area (for a detailed display - click anywhere on the map).
