Getting between downtown San Francisco and SFO

Taxi:
Taxi drivers are required by SFO airport regulation to accept fares to all Bay Area destinations. Average cab fare to/from downtown SF is $37-$44. A $2.00 exit surcharge is included in all San Francisco taxicab meter fares for rides originating from San Francisco International Airport.

Oakland International

OAK is about 20 miles from downtown San Francisco (see map). It is served by over a dozen airlines, including Southwest and JetBlue. International flights are limited to Mexico.

Terminal 2 is for Southwest Airlines, Terminal 1 is for all other airlines.

Mineta San Jose International Airport

Mineta San Jose International Airport is about 46 miles from downtown SF (see map). It is served by over a dozen airlines with flights to destinations throughout North America, Canada and Mexico.


General Info

SJC has two terminals and an International Arrivals Facility. American, Southwest and Hawaiian airlines (and Mexicana's ticket counters) are located in Terminal A. All other airlines are located in Terminal C. The International Arrivals Facility receives arriving, international flights only.


Getting between downtown SF and SJC

Taxi:

Public Transportation:
There are no direct options between San Francisco and SJC. Whether you take BART (to the Fremont station) or Caltrain, you'll need to connect to the VTA Airport Flyer.
