Downer EDI Works is an organisation with a proud history dating back over 140 years.

2007  Works Infrastructure became known as Downer EDI Works Limited as a result of an amalgamation of the Downer EDI Group.
2005  Works Infrastructure split out its traffic management capabilities to form the highly regarded Integrated Traffic Solutions (I.T.S). The I.T.S vision is to provide the travelling public with a safe road and a reliable journey while maintaining cost effective solutions to their clients.
2000 The company became known as Works Infrastructure and went on to grow with the market from a civil engineering business to a multi-platform solutions business capable of providing all aspects of a project.
1996 The company was purchased by the publicly listed Australian company Downer EDI Limited (Downer Group), which is itself originally a New Zealand construction company with a proud history. Following acquisition, Downer EDI Works rapidly expanded through the acquisition of over 30 companies over the next few years.
1990s The Ministry of Works was privatised and the passion of the people within the business saw it develop to become one of the major players in the New Zealand market.
1870 Established as the Public Works Department (later Ministry of Works), the next 120 years saw the company build the majority of the New Zealand’s roads, rail, hydro-electric schemes and housing infrastructure.
