Summary: We bought 3 new computers from best buy in february and was talked into going with webroot since the anti virus we wanted was out of stock. I have it scheduled to update once a day and scan on fridays, it does neither. I just checked it yesterday and... read more

"Shuts down and is useless unless you pay the vig!"
Pros: Basic AV program that catches most but not all.
Cons: Usurious business practices -- the program completely disables to uselesss unless you pay the annual $40 extortion fee.
Summary: $40 retail to renew, and if you don't renew the program and pay the $40/year then the program simply stops operating. Oh, it will run a scan still, but only reports what it finds -- the ability to delete or quaratine the invasion is disabled. This... read more

"I RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM TO COMPLIMENT YOUR OTHERS"
Pros: REACTIVE AND DOESN'T SEEM TO BE PROACTIVE LIVE AVIRA OR AVAST
Cons: ONE DIMENSIONAL WHEN COMPARED TO 3 DIMENSIONAL AVIRA OR AVAST
Summary: I RECOMMEND IT WITH SOME RESERVATIONS. SINCE IT'S FOUNDER DIED IN HAWAII, IT NO LONGER SEEMS TO BE CUTTING EDGE AND LAGS BEHIND OTHERS. I LOVE THE CONTROLS AND ESPECIALLY THE AUTOMATIC CONTROLS - SET AND FORGET. read more

Version: Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware & Firewall 6.1
"Absolutely the easiest and best out there..."
Pros: The program is almost unique, in that it has the ability to run in Safe Mode. This assists you in killing a LOT more than most of its competition. I'd imagine that most of the other reviewers don't know how to use it, as its yet to fail me.
Cons: Webroot's software 'Updater' sometimes gives a false positive that it failed to update definitions. It usually actually does update, but disconnects at the last second. This can be avoided by restarting and letting it run update once more.
Summary: I've been using webroot for 4 years now. Back before it was popular, and before it had AntiVirus built in. If you know Sophos, that is the AV software built into webroot. Scheduled scanning works flawlessly, Gamer Mode is functional and does exactly ... read more

Version: Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware & Firewall 6.1
Pros: Bought it in Feb.2009. Caught most of the easy stuff. But, subsequent upgrades are not up to snuff. It is comparable to any other anti-spyware, antivirus program.
Cons: Very poor at finding trojans and worms. When initially loaded, my old McCaffee program caught Bancos on the Webroot program. Needed Super Anti-spyware as a back up to Webroot. Upon expiration, quarantine is disabled making it totally useless.
Summary: After reading all the glowing reviews about Webroot 1 1/2 years ago, I thought it was the program to buy. Boy were those reviews off the mark! My first problem with it was the Bancos trojan that came with the program. At first, I thought perhaps i... read more

"Quite Disappointing. Not a Prime time player."
Pros: User friendly interface.
Cons: Unable to detect/clean even simple viruses weeks after detection.
Summary: Switched from older Norton for space saving measures. Was impressed early. Two weeks ago, got a virus that inverted all keyboard entry. Reported it to webroot. Hung on for close to an hour allowed tech to talk me through another half hour collecting ... read more

"Horrible experience if something goes wrong."
Pros: It did it's job unless something went wrong. I will explain below.
Cons: Program won't work on any install if you go over the amount of installs that your license requires. This was an error after I had to re-install on my laptop. I will explain this in detail below since I have no room to do so here.
Summary: I bought 5 licenses so I could put this on all of my computers I was good up until my birthday 2010. Yes, I really like this program. So after awhile my laptop started acting up and it was the spyware program causing the problems and there was no way... read more
