"Not good if already infected"
Pros: Seems like it should be a good package, but hard to tell when fails to install.
Cons: Terrible error messages. Install failures lead to disaster. Did not find the viruses from safe mode.

"After 3 years, I needed to move to another free AV"
Pros: Seems to scan faster than it use to
Cons: After installation of the new version (from AVG 8.5 free edition), my PC started to work slowly. It freeze twice, and a constant use of the HDD and CPU (due to avgchsvx.exe). It seems to be a know problem in Vista and Win 7, with no solution.
Summary: Disappointed. After using this program for such a long time (3 years), the new version just doesn't work. They build up a new system to check virus infection, but it seems to use a lot of system resources. My PC (VIsta, Core 2 2.0 GHz, 2 g RAM) star... read more

Pros: It works OK.
Cons: It overtakes your computer, it's everywhere, and it slows down your system, because it is cumbersome.
Summary: Why not offer virus protection that you don't have to marry, just date? read more

Cons: Low effectiveness, not the best on the market.
Summary: For home users I do not prefer any antivirus software at all. If neccesary, use rather Norton products, or NOD. read more

Cons: I wouldn't recommend AVG anymore to anyone, it didn't do anything for me. I wouldn't even give it one star.
Summary: I had the old version and upgraded about two days before Christmas. After I did, I was bombbarded with viruses, malware, adware. Critical attacks every few minutes, couldn't even work on the computer without intruder alerts and everything. I thoug... read more

"random crashes, worse than 8.5"
Pros: It linstalled without crashing, but took quite a long time to install.
Cons: 8.5 was a resource hog, 9.9 seems to be better, but since loading it my machine crashes randomly. Research on the net says I am not alone.
If it can be fixed, it will be a step up, but I am not holding my breath.Summary: Random crashing is not a "feature" I care to have in the programs I use. I am backing down to 8.0 if I can find it, otherwise I will go with something else. read more

"I could not use with Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0"
Pros: AVG worked OK; lots of settings and seemed to do a good scan. But some scanner areas did not seem to work and some kept reverting back to the default.
Cons: I was unable to use my Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0 email client. AVG would not let me log in. Took long to scan and no auto update feature. I tried AVIRA, but gave up on nag screen. About a year ago I switched to AVAST Home Edition and am very happy.
Summary: I highly recommend AVAST Home Edition. AVG had too many issues which I could not work around or get to work; it became too frustrating. At the time it did not even have an auto update feature. read more

Pros: thorough more than I need
Cons: After using this program for a few months, I noticed last week, that I had to reload pages several times to get them to load.
Summary: I don't know if this was just a glitch, but I couldn't afford to have my browsing to slow to slower than a crawl.

Pros: there were none as I couldn't install product
Cons: Down loaded product and wouldn't install on my computer, removed down loaded file and all files that I could find and tried download and install again with same results. Windows XP Pro w/SP3 kept saying there was a problem.

"Your Product sucks & and your assistance is even worse"
Pros: The only reason I gave you one star, was because there was nothing worse, I could grade you on! I downloaded AVG 9.0 on 11/24/09 and it has been screwed up since. I have contacted AVG support and Cnet support & don't know which one is worse. Both -
Cons: Being I signed up for the 30 day free trial, of paid AVG 9.0, on 11/24/09 and it has not worked, has not allowed me to download any anti-virus, free or paid, from the internet, will not allow be to open or send any attachments including 1's asked for
Summary: Being I have not been allowed to use the product, since my so called free trial went into effect, and have received absolutely no positive help in the matter from either AVG support or CNET support, I would think that would give you a slight hint on ... read more
