Portfolio Management-Tracking Tools: Biodiversity
The biodiversity tracking tools were introduced in GEF-3 to measure progress in achieving the outputs and outcomes established at the portfolio level under the biodiversity focal area. Given changes in the GEF’s biodiversity strategy for GEF-4, Tracking Tool for Strategic Objectives One, Two, and Three have been developed.
For all GEF-4 projects that fall under these strategic objectives, please use these revised tracking tools : The tracking tools for GEF-4 projects are to be submitted to the GEF Secretariat at three points:
a) With the project document at CEO endorsement for Full-Sized Projects and at CEO approval for Medium Sized Projects;
b) Within 3 months of completion of the project’s mid-term evaluation or report; and
c) With the project’s terminal evaluation or final completion report, and no later than 6 months after project closure.
For all GEF-3 projects, please apply these two tracking tools :
The tracking tool for GEF-3 projects will be submitted to the GEF Secretariat at these remaining points in the project cycle for GEF-3 projects:
- a) Within 3 months of completion of the project’s mid-term evaluation or report; and
- b) With the project’s terminal evaluation or final completion report, and no later than 6 months after project closure.
Project data from the GEF-3 and GEF-4 project cohort, respectively, will be aggregated for analysis of directional trends and patterns at a portfolio-wide level to both inform the strategic directions of the GEF and to report to GEF Council on portfolio-level performance in the biodiversity focal area.
