148th Fighter Wing gets new wings

Fighter pilot Lt. Col. Reed Bowman was all smiles when the first F-16 Block 50 landed at the Duluth Air National Guard (ANG) Base April 27, 2010.
Since June 2003 the A.M.I. has been flying 34 leased F-16's operated by 2 different units, 5° Stormo based at Cervia - San Giorgio with 23° Gruppo and 37° Stormo based at Trapani - Birgi with 10° & 18° Gruppo.
The first wave of F-16C Block 50 Fighting Falcon aircraft arrived at the 148th Fighter Wing, Tuesday, April 27.

Thunderbirds fly Super Bowl champions

Super Bowl XLIV champions Drew Brees and Jabari Greer of the National Football League's New Orleans Saints experienced "air dominance" in a different fashion April 23, going for a ride in a U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds red, white and blue F-16 Fighting Falcon.
In the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001, the 162nd Fighter Wing, an Arizona Air National Guard F-16 training unit, took to the skies to protect the Southwest as part of Operation Noble Eagle - this month the unit was named the best air sovereignty alert force in the country.
The first two F-16s in a 21-jet exchange flew into the 113th FW, marking the start of a complete transition of the Capital Guardians fighter assets.

Newer F-16s destined for Sioux Falls

Air National Guard and U.S. Air Force senior leaders announced that nearly two dozen newer F-16 fighter jets will soon arrive at Joe Foss Field in Sioux Falls.
Luke Air Force Base's Capt. Kristin Hubbard's almost eight-year Air Force career includes stops in Canada, Korea, Alaska, Guam and Jordan among other places. Her next stop could have her visiting all those spots in one-eighth of that time period.

The final F-16s leave the 174 FW

The 174th Fighter Wing concluded its F-16 operations on Saturday March 6, 2010 with a formal ceremony that was attended by the new Adjutant General for New York State.
On January 9th, The Green Mountain Boys of The Vermont Air National Guard deployed to Tucson, Arizona for Operation Snowbird.

Thunderbirds soar with the angels

Members of the Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, traded in their blue and gold F/A-18 Hornets to strap into an USAF red, white and blue Thunderbird F-16 Fighting Falcon on Thursday 4th.
New York ANGs Lt. Col. D. Scott Brenton made his final flight in an F-16 Tuesday, March 2 as the 174th FW prepared to say goodbye to the last of the planes they've operated for 20 years.
According to FOX 21 News Duluth's 148th FW will get the first of its replacement Block 50 F-16s in April securing the Fighter Wings future.

175 FS to upgrade F-16s

The 175th FS, South Dakota ANG are getting 18 replacement F-16Cs (big mouths) arriving from Hill Air Force Base in Salt Lake City, later this year.

174 FW conducts final F-16 Fly-By

Aircrews and F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft from the NYANG's 174th FW will mark their final scheduled fly-by in support of the AHL's first outdoor hockey game between the Syracuse Crunch and the Binghamton Senators at the New York State Fairgrounds on February 20, 2010 at 13:00h.
