A Qatari diplomat trying to sneak a smoke in an airplane bathroom sparked a bomb scare Wednesday night on a flight from Washington to Denver, with F-16 fighter jets scrambled by NORAD.
Two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack strategic bombers that carried out a routine patrol mission over the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans were shadowed by two RoNAF F-16 Fighting Falcons and two RAF Tornados.

Norwegian F-16 jet fighters identified less Russian military aircrafts outside Norwegian airspace last year than in 2008.
At approximately 10.15h EDT, September 30th, when radio calls to a civilian pilot went unanswered, the Continental U.S. NORAD Region, along with the 601st Air and Space Operations Center, responded by scrambling fighter jets to assist with the unresponsive aircraft.
Officials from the 601st Air and Space Operations Center responded to a call from Federal Aviation Administration officials at approximately 20.00h Eastern time July 30 when radio calls to a civilian pilot went unanswered.
