Tina Fey reprises Sarah Palin role on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' for first time since 2008

Tina Fey had a date with Sarah Palin Saturday night.

For the first time since the 2008 presidential campaign, Fey reprised her iconic impression of the former Alaskan governor on "Saturday Night Live" to poke fun at Palin's new life as a television personality.

"With my work as a contributor on Fox News and my new TLC reality show, 'Sarah Palin's Alaska,' it just seemed like the next logical step was to launch my own network," Fey as Palin quipped, before offering up a series of "shows" that would appear on the channel, including "Are You Smarter than a Half-Term Governor."

Another show, "Hey Journalist, I Gotcha," involved editing interviews to make the journalists look unprepared - perhaps a nod to the recent controversy over Fox editing old celebrity interviews for its "Real American" promos.

Fey also introduced a faux spinoff for Palin's husband, Todd (played by Jason Seudeikis), as an outlaw cop transplanted from Alaska to New York.

At the end of the sketch, Fey checked her hand for her sign off -- "goodnight" -- an allusion to an incident in February in which Palin wrote notes on her hand while speaking at a Tea Party event.

Fey initially imitated Palin on "SNL" in September 2008 as the ex-Alaskan governor was running for Republican vice president. The skit became NBC.com's most-watched viral video, garnering 5.7 million views by the following week.

The comedienne appeared two times as Palin in October and was joined by the real McCoy on October 18, an episode that earned "SNL" its best ratings since 1994.

For her efforts, Fey won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2009.
