Ever seen something super popular, heard that it's the greatest thing since the automatic ******* dispenser, and it just isn't that great to you? Overrated is a word that floats around every form of entertainment, usually spouted by what starts as a minority and ends as pile of blazing emails composed of swear words and exclamation points.

Here I'd like to take a look at some of the things in the world I think are extremely overrated. Keep in mind, just because something is overrated doesn't mean it's bad. I actually like a few of the items on the list! With the intro and Mad Lib out of the way, let us begin.


10. Megan Fox


Bet that got your attention. Aside from being a monumentally horrendous actress and starring in three of the worst movies of the last decade (Jennifer's Body and Transformers 1+2), Megan Fox just isn't that hot. No, I'm not gay you ********, but Megan Fox isn't NEARLY as hot as actresses like Keira Knightley, Angelina Jolie, or Olivia Wilde. Mostly because they're actually good actresses. Seeing Megan Fox naked would be like seeing a porn star naked, it's nothing special at all. Seeing Keira Knighley naked would be something really special.


9. The Gravity Gun

I can't even count how many lists of video game weaponry I have seen that have the gravity gun at number 1. Any lists that don't feature it at number 1 are spammed with comments (see above Mad Lib) about the gravity gun and how glorious it is. When I first saw one of these lists, I hadn't played Half-Life. About 3 years ago I got around to playing Half-Life 2 and was blown away by how simply awesome everything about the game was. Except the gravity gun. It's a cool little toy, but what it really comes down to is
Step 1: Find object
Step 2: Pick up object
Step 3: Shoot object
Wow. My head nearly exploded from the amount of innovation. Instead of just picking something up and throwing it, you get to pick something up and throw it at a higher speed. WITH A GUN. WHOOOOOOAAAA.


8. This French ice cream I had this one time.

I went on a trip to France a few years ago for about 3 weeks. We visited Paris, Normandy, I saw some naked women on billboards and my mom accidentally blew up the stove. It was a good time. In Paris we went to an ice cream shop my mom had read about. It was supposedly the best ice cream in the whole world. We ate the ice cream, said "hmmm...tasty." and left. It certainly wasn't bad, it just tasted like they went to the Giant Eagle (or whatever they have in France) and bought some generic brand ice cream. Oh well, at least the snail we had later was good.


7. Dragonforce

I don't even need to say anything.


6. Forrest Gump

If hating this movie makes me a soulless monster, then call me SatanSpawn666, but I could not stand this movie. People call it a masterpiece and a brilliant take on life seen through the eyes of a challenged man struggling to live his life. Honestly, I would call this an overly sentimental, boring, exceedingly stupid film with an idiotic message and unlikeable characters, and I want my 2 1/2 hours back! This wouldn't piss me off so much if it hadn't gotten so many awards and crap.
Some people see this movie, see a retard on screen living his life just by dumb luck and sheer stupidity and say, "wow, this is a masterpiece because.... it has a really dumb main character, and that's awesome! I'm sure there's a message or profound statement in here somewhere, I just have no clue what it is! Oh well, time to go stick my head in the microwave!" Anyone looking for the deep message hidden here, I found it: "You can get by in life by being a dumbass." 6 Oscars?! All I can ask is why, why oh why?


5. Family Guy

This is a perfect example of an entry on the list that is overrated, but not bad by any stretch of the word. Most of the jokes are at least slightly funny, but the problem is that the jokes never have anything to do with what is going on in the story. If you took the jokes from one episode and swapped them with another episode's jokes it wouldn't make any difference. I don't really need to give an example, as you can just go watch any episode and you'll probably notice one right away. But here's an example anyway. Peter is talking with some guy that owns a yacht and finds out that he's never had a bachelor party. Then out of nowhere, we get a minute long sequence of Peter talking to the Hamburger Helper glove about his idiot brother, Cheeseburger Helper. Okaaaaay... does this have anything to do with what was happening 30 seconds ago? No. Does it make any sense? No. Is it funny? Kinda, but that doesn't completely forgive it.


4. Sports Movies

Stop me if you've heard this one. A teenager/older man plays/used to play a sport. A rival team made up of the most colossal jerks ever is playing his team for the championship game and the main character's team just barely wins in the end. Sound familiar? Then you've probably seen a sports movie. It makes me seriously doubt the human race when I see that sports movies are still making money when the creativity it takes to make them hovers between zero and negative 4. "A definite winner!" Lol.


3. Top # Lists

You didn't see that coming, did you? While I was writing this I asked my 13-year-old sister for some ideas for overrated things. She said "Overrated? How about writing stupid top 10 lists for video game websites?" Ouch. She got me good.
Well, why not?
Top 10 lists are overrated because... well, why do we need to rank everything? Why does everyone need to put themselves in such ridiculous states of imaginary power, putting the uncontrollable world around them into order of 1 to 10? Because people need to feel in control, and people reading top 10 lists are just losers that can't think for themselves. (I'm starting to sound like a really idiotic version of The GameOverhinker.)
You are such a loser.



2. Fred

Once again, do I even need to say anything? Of course not! But I'm gonna say something anyway. Fred's videos are, in the shortest possible description, NOT FUNNY. Not even mildly humorous. The only reason to watch his videos is to shake your head in sadness as you watch a guy who looks perfectly normal make a total ass of himself all over the internet. As with a lot of items on this list, it wouldn't bother me nearly as much if they weren't so damn popular! The amount of people who watch his videos and give him money for them is just disturbing.



1. The Beatles

Again, just to prevent the hate, I do not think the Beatles are bad at all. The Beatles are a great band, and I listen to them quite often. But calling them the best band of all time? Bit of a stretch. On my list of best bands of all time, there's a four-way tie between Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, and The Clash. If they're my Top 4 bands of all time, The Beatles are at least in the Top 10.
It really became apparent to me that the Beatles were overrated when I saw Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the Top 500 Albums ever. I searched the list, seeing where my favorites would come in.
Dark Side of the Moon: #43. I can live with that.
Led Zeppelin IV: #66. Again, a little low but that's okay.
Who's Next: #28. Yeaah, that's more like it.
London Calling: #8 Aw HELL YEAH. That's what I'm talking about! I wonder what #1 is!
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at #1
Honestly, I'm fine with that. Sgt. Pepper is an excellent album. But you know what I'm not fine with? Having Sgt. Pepper, Rubber Soul, The White Album, Revolver, and Abbey Road ALL IN THE TOP 15. In the words of the AVGN, "THAT...is some ****."
