John Travolta

His career seemed like it would end with the 70s, but he has now been a star for over 30 years. First coming to national prominence with the television series "Welcome Back, Kotter", John Travolta became a film sensation by starring in "Saturday Night Fever" (1977) and "Grease" (1978); the former earned him an Academy Award Best Actor nomination. He has experienced professional dry stretches, ending one with "Look Who's Talking" (1989) and another with "Pulp Fiction" (1994), which brought him his second Best Actor Oscar nomination. He has been married to the actress Kelly Preston since 1991 and has two children with her. (Tragically, his son Jett died in 2009.) Travolta is a noted Scientologist.
