Though she only appeared in eleven films, Grace Kelly became one of cinema’s most beloved actresses and to this day remains a fashion and style icon. She was the epitome of old Hollywood glamour.

Born in Philadelphia in 1929, Kelly began her film career in 1951 with the films “14 Hours” and soon after gave an Academy Award nominated performance when she stared opposite Clark Gable and Ava Gardner in John Ford’s “Mogambo” (1953). Kelly developed a close relationship with revolutionary director Alfred Hitchcock and stared in his critically acclaimed films “Rear Window,” (1953) and “To Catch a Thief” (1955), in which she shared the screen with Cary Grant. She received a Best Actress Academy Award for her captivating performance as the wife of an alcoholic in “The Country Girl” (1956). Kelly also had a wildly successful television career and received a gold record for the song “True Love” from the film “High Society” (1956). In 1956 she was named the Golden Globe’s World Film Favorite Female Actor.

Kelly retired from acting later that year when she married Prince Rainier Grimaldi III of Monaco and became Her Serene High Princess Grace of Monaco. She was the embodiment of true princess and used her position to found the World Association of Children’s in 1963, Kelly passed away in 1982 after driving her car off a cliff, but is still known as someone who truly lived up her name, always conducting herself with elegance, class, and grace.
