George Clooney
Few modern day stars evoke old Hollywood charm quite like George Clooney. Born into a 'show biz' family, Clooney began his career in small roles on sitcom favorites such as The Facts of Life, Golden Girls and Rosanne. He found fame as Dr. Doug Ross on NBC's primetime drama ER from 1994-1999. His blockbuster career took off from there, with leading roles in box office hits including "The Peacemaker" (1997), "Batman and Robin" (1997), and "The Thin Red Line" (1998). In 2000, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" earned him critical acclaim and a Best Actor award at the Golden Globes.

Since then, Clooney has captured the essence of both comedic and dramatic roles in films like "Ocean's Eleven" (2001), “Burn After Reading” (2008), "Good Night, and Good Luck" (2005), which he also directed, "Syriana” (2005), which he produced and won him an Oscar and Golden Globe, and "Michael Clayton" (2007), which he produced. "Up in the Air" (2009) earned Clooney critical praise, and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.

A quintessential bachelor, Clooney has been linked to many of Hollywood’s leading ladies including Kelly Preston, Julia Roberts and Renee Zellweger. He was married briefly to actress Talia Balsam in the early 1990’s, but has since said that marriage is not for him despite long standing relationships with women outside of Hollywood.

In 2009, Clooney was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine for his humanitarian efforts. Using his voice and his passion to promote liberal issues and world equality, he wrote and produced the documentary “A Journey to Darfur” (2006) and organized the 2010 “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon to raise funds after the devastating earthquake. He has served as a United Nations Messenger of Peace since 2008, and he was awarded the Summit Peace Award by the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates in 2007.
