Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery quits the band
Bassist leaves 'with equal parts regret and relief'
Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery has quit the band, he has confirmed.
The US rockers reunited in 2008 following 17 years of the original line-up being apart, playing a series of shows and festival appearances (including the NME Awards USA). Now Avery has been replaced by Duff McKagan, who plays in Velvet Revolver and was formerly in Guns N' Roses.
"That’s it," Avery wrote on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/ericavery. "With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane's Addiction experiment is at an end."
Guitarist Dave Navarro wrote on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/davenavarro6767, "Yes, Eric Avery has left the band. More to come but we wish him all the best!"
Frontman Perry Farrell, meanwhile, responded by writing on Twitter.com/perryfarrell, "Slipping out of that shell of a past. Gripping; wow we're onto something faster now. And so worth the wait. It's the art of great escape."
The band are expected to record a new album soon.
