CAUTION
William Charles Rath is wanted for allegedly masterminding a scheme to defraud a satellite provider out of millions of dollars from 1996 to 1999. It is alleged that Rath organized, sold, and manufactured illegal satellite technology (IST) throughout North America that enabled individuals to receive satellite programming without having to pay for the programming service. Rath allegedly used a network of individuals to distribute IST throughout North America, and created a corporation in the Turks and Caicos Islands to handle some of the proceeds from the sale of IST.
Rath was indicted on February 8, 2001, by a Federal Grand Jury for the United States District Court, Western District of Kentucky, for conspiracy to commit fraud and related activity in connection with access devices; producing, using and trafficking in counterfeit access devices; and conspiracy to launder money. On February 9, 2001, a federal warrant was issued for Rath's arrest.
