DELVE INTO the designer baggage of model Indrani Das Gupta and one item is sure to be there - a pair of sunglasses to protect her eyes from harmful ultra violet rays. No wonder she was part of the presentation when Safilo, a leader in fashion and luxury eyewear, launched its winter eyewear collection from Italy at South Delhi's Marriot Welcome Hotel. The brands include Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Emporio Armani, Carerra, Oxydo, Diesel and Dior.
Points out Indrani, "Clothes will do justice to you only if you do justice to them. Though this collection selects a certain segment of the population, people should look at it as an investment rather than a waste." Dior and Armani are her personal favourites, and she feels, "It is funky and stylish to choose from these brands."
For Sapna Kumar the collection is unique. She reveals, "My favourites are Giorgio, Armani and Dior and will certainly buy one from the collection." As for her these funky glasses are a necessity she says, "I can spend anything on shades as this is a luxury which ultimately becomes a necessity. Now I am totally into classic black shades because they are beautiful and trendy."
Starting from Rs.2500 and going up to 25000, the collection is surely not for the middle class but as Michele Osti, senior area manager for Europe and emerging Asia market says, "My expectations are very high, especially from a city like Delhi from where fashion starts, and in metros classic styles are more in vogue."
