EXPERIMENTING WITH one's image is in vogue and the best scientists to consult for the role reversal in the Bollywood laboratory are Abbas-Mustan. They changed `Deewana' Shah Rukh with Baazigar and `Khiladi' Akshay Kumar with Ajnabee.
With Aitraaz, which released for Deepavali, it is the turn of Priyanka Chopra, the beauty queen who hasn't done much beyond looking good till date. "Now, I am confident enough to try out different shades. Here, I am playing a controversial woman who knows how to get her way through," says Priyanka, adding that since it was a Subhash Ghai film, she was willing to try the negative role.
Bollywood is turning bolder by the week, and here, Priyanka essays the character of Sonia, who goes to any extent to fulfil her desires. Her object of desire is Raj (Akshay) who already has a companion in Kareena Kapoor, another avid image surfer.
"I don't believe in revealing just for the sake of exposure. I don't mind wearing anything which a young modern woman would wear but I have my limits and I won't cross them," asserts Priyanka.
Kareena, for a change, is playing a simple person who is Akshay's emotional support. "I love experimenting and this one is one in its own sense," she quips.
As for Akshay, this has been a pretty good year, for he has consolidated himself as an actor. His last release, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, where he stole the thunder from Salman, is a case in point. In this film, he plays a hapless man caught between two women.
"I have decided to space out my action films. I am doing all kind of movies, and after Hera Pheri, I have become confident about doing comedies."
