AFTER THE much talked about Malini Ramani's backless party in the Capital some time ago, where not just the socialite designers' backless line was a sell out, but the audience were touted as being equally sporty.

And now, Hyderabad had mana version of the same, this time at Ten Downing. This was last week, when the theme for the Blenders' Pride Fashion Friday was `backless', kicking off the fashion series that plans to showcases newest trends in party circuits for reveller here to emulate.

Explaining the concept, "instead of celebrity deejays and fashion shows we thought we could promote club wear trends by featuring popular models wearing them during the party, for the benefit of fashion conscious party buffs," says Deepa Mohan, Key Account Manager Seagrams'.

The current party featured popular models Shipra and Bhumika showcasing stunning black and turquoise backless dos respectively, with Zulfi Syed adding to the charisma, in his stunning black shirt.

As for the hi-voltage event, it sure rocked, what with dancy grooves from DJ Files arranged back to back. And the pub was choc-a-bloc with revellers, mostly men, sporting Armanis et al all positioning themselves at the bar counter much before the clock struck ten.

Not many takers

Much to their dismay, but for a few, read handful who wore the backless teamed them with hipsters and saris, the rest of womenfolk about town didn't take to the concept and landed up in what they were comfy teamed with the new fad, skirts.

Sagar Jethwani, of MeBaz, one of the sponsors of the event hopes that the fashion Fridays will help promote club wear lines that are in vogue, with the local party circuit.

"We plan to present new party wear trends offering a theme every week. It could be a poncho, the Spanish dress that is really in vogue or it could be a kurta for men or may be a linen line. We would also promote the concept on a different level by offering prizes impromptu -- for those in trendy ensemble at these parties."

Incidentally the store is coming up with a new showroom that will showcase party wear from noted designers, shortly.

Well, for party buffs, with more such fashion dos on the anvil, it would mean more hours at the gym to get that oh so perfect body for one.
