Anshu Modi's exhibition is a guaranteed showstopper

ALL NERVOUS brides and grooms can set their minds at rest at least as far as outward appearances go. Anshu Modi, the ultimate bridal queen, is having an exhibition of her drop dead gorgeous outfits. "My line has something new as far as cuts, styling and embroidery goes," Anshu says. Working in a variety of fabrics like "Crepe, Jamevaar, chiffon and tissues," Anshu has some super neat innovations like "the divided sari and the two pallu sari."

"The divided sari is one garment which can be worn in three ways. The two-pallu sari has a crushed pallu as well as a plain one." The look is "oriental and traditional. While Hyderabadis love to experiment, this is one time when they would rather go with the traditional."

The stress is more on ghagharas with zardosi running riot on vibrant colours. Ornamentation rules with beads and pearls. Mughal and Rajasthani art finds their way onto the unique collection. Grooms need not feel left out as Anshu has a line for them as well.

And what would an outfit without the right accessories? So Anshu has baju bandhs (armlets) to go with ghaghras. So if you want to look like you have just stepped out of a fairy tale make sure to drop at the ITC Hotel Kakatiya Sheraton and Towers between 10.30 and 19.30. The exhibition is on till tomorrow.
