Aakar Ensembles is having an exhibition-cum-sale of hand-crafted fabrics from May 20 to 22

HAND-CRAFTED fabrics are very much in. These days designers are working in tandem with the weavers giving them design inputs to contemporise their weaves. This way, the weavers are in tune with the market demand, and thereby marketing becomes slightly easier for them. And there is constant development on the handloom front.
Neelima Lal, an alumnus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology who has been involved in handloom development at the grassroot level with the weavers, is having an exhibition-cum-sale of exclusive hand-crafted fabrics `Aakarr' at 95 Parklane, Secunderabad from May 20 to 22.
Neelima has tried to impart a contemporary look to the traditional fabrics. The exhibition-cum-sale would display a range of handloom fabrics - khaddi-printed white Mangalagiri cottons, viscose-cotton ikkats in bright, vivid colours, traditional block-printed Kalamkari on varied fabrics, ethnic hand-painted Kalamkari dupattas and block-printed Mangalagiri cottons with contemporary borders.
