WHAT DOES a cosmetic company do to say that its latest beauty cream isn't just like any other in the market promising to make someone more fair-complexioned but will actually make the skin more refined, clear and glowing? Simple. Hold a ramp show where a majority of the models - contesting for the `Ayur Face of the Year' award - either have wheatish or swarthy complexion.
This is exactly what happened at New Delhi's West Patel Nagar. The models, all 13 of them, who were on the rostrum weren't exactly fair complexioned but their skins exuded that special glow - now you see what the organisers were hinting it.
The herbal major wanted to drive home the point that Sanwali Saloni will not make someone dramatically fair but will, for sure, "make a dusky skin into a refined, clear skin - a glowing one, in fact."
Says Dilvinder Singh Narang of Ayur Herbals, "The cream won't make a sanwali (dark-complexioned) girl become a gori (fair-complexioned). But regular use of the cream would impart that special glow to her skin which would make her look more appealing. This cream is made from indigenous herbs and is best suited for the Indian skin." Priced at Rs.48 to "target the middle class" the ingredients used in Sanwali Saloni are amba haldi, jatamansi, neem, tulsi, manjistha and aloe vera.
All the models received thunderous applause for the ramp show and the winners walked away with glittering trophies. Ramandeep was declared as the winner of the `Ayur Face of the Year'.
