Deliberately evasive of tourists, don't be disheartened if you really want to visit Bolinas – there are plenty of nice things to do to make it worth your while, like a museum and an observatory.

On the far west of the coastline, tiny Inverness is a quaint place to drop in, but for some wilder coastal vibes head towards moody, windswept Point Reyes. Famous for wrecking ships in days of yore, it still claims the odd dinghy here and there. You may also catch a glimpse of migrating birds or the marine life that reside here.
