BlogSherpa (beta)

What is BlogSherpa?

BlogSherpa is a system that displays bloggers posts about destinations or interests on lonelyplanet.com

The concept is simple - Lonely Planet will broaden the content offering on lonelyplanet.com and bloggers receive money and traffic in exchange. The system works by looking at blogs RSS feeds that are in our system, and brining in any post tagged with 'blogsherpa' we then work out where the post is about - either via the bloggers own tags ('italy' for example) or via an automatic system. We then display a short extract from that post on the destination page for that region - a user can then click through to read the whole post.

Importantly we use the bloggers Google Adsense ID to display the adverts on the page - this means the blogger gets any advertising revenue from those pages directly. We also encourage our users to click through to the bloggers original post to leave comments and interact with the blogger directly.

You can read more about BlogSherpa at the Inside Digital Blog and also an article about BlogShera at Paid Content.
