In a world of clockwork cities and talking monsters, where logic is based on fantasy and laws are constructed by madmen, Jing is the greatest of all thieves. He can steal the very stars, or even a human life. He is the King of Bandits. His latest heists are his greatest and most bizarre yet. First Jing and his lecherous crow sidekick Kir must cross the Milky Way to steal back freedom for the Porvoras, a tribe of living bombs enslaved in the Sangria mines. In his next adventure, Jing and Kir are escorted by the comely android Vermouth to the eternal life where the Aqua Vitae is kept. Little do they know that they are being followed by rival thieves Pernod and China Lilet.

Jing
A thief who steals everything, even stars in the sky and precious human lives.

Kir.
A talking bird who is Jing's constant companion. Together Jing and Kir can fire the Kir Royal attack, a powerful blast which comes from Kir's beak.

Yuichi Kumakura

Kumakura-sensei's Jing was first published in April, 1995 in Kodansha's monthly comic magazine, Bonbon.

The Jing manga has inspired a brand new anime series from Sony, which began running in Japan in May, 2002. Kumakura-sensei is now at work on an all-new version of the Jing saga, featuring more European-style artwork.
