Rallis India Ltd. plans to invest INR 2,500 million over the next three years to set up a new facility in Dahej, Gujarat. The new plant will be completed in three phases with the first scheduled to be completed by June 2010 for an initial investment of INR 1,500 million. The first phase will produce the current products on offer while the second and third will be earmarked for new ones scheduled to be launched over the next three years. Each phase will require one year for completion, and the new products will be finalised by December 2009. The plant is expected to generate revenues of over INR 5,000 million in its first three years of operations.

The Board of Directors of Rallis India Ltd. at its meeting held on October 20, 2009, has approved the payment of interim dividend of INR 8 per share (80%) to the shareholders of the company.

Rallis India Ltd. reported earnings results for the second quarter ended September 2009. For the quarter, the company has registered a 10% rise in net profit at INR 460 million for the quarter ended September 30, against INR 420 million in the same period last year. Sales rose 13% to INR 3,170 million against INR 2,800 million for the same period a year ago. The rigorous focus on reducing working capital has resulted in the lowest ever interest cost of INR 7.8 million during the quarter. Several strategic initiatives such as launch of new products, focus on select markets and tight cost-control helped the company achieve growth in profit.
