IRB Sevens World Series heads for Las Vegas
The popular IRB Sevens World Series is preparing for the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas in 2010

The IRB Sevens World Series will reach exciting and unchartered territory during the upcoming 2009/10 season after it was announced that the USA Sevens will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on 13-14 February 2010.

USA Sevens LLC, the company that owns and operates the annual tournament, has signed a Letter of Intent with Las Vegas Events, which would place the USA Sevens competition at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas for 'a multi-year commitment'.

As the fourth round in the grand prix-style calendar, the USA Sevens continues to expand its fan base both at the event and through record national broadcast ratings in the States.

"As the premier rugby event in America, we are excited to showcase this competition in Las Vegas," said Dan Lyle, Tournament Director of the USA Sevens.

"With Vegas as our host city, and expert at providing a unique experience for any visitor, we have no doubt that the USA Sevens will become a 'must attend' annual fixture for rugby fans around the world," he added.

"Moving the USA Sevens to such a vibrant and high-profile destination can only enhance the perception of the Sevens World Series, and also rugby's growing appeal in new developing markets, both in North America and around the world," added IRB Sevens Manager Beth Coalter.

Sam Boyd Stadium is the home of the UNLV American football team, as well as concerts and other sports competitions throughout the year and has a capacity for 36,800 fans, including club seating and suites. As part of the agreement, a full natural grass pitch will be installed especially for the event.

Information regarding partner Hotel and Ticket packages, plus the Invitational to be held on the fields adjacent to the stadium will be forthcoming, or go to www.usasevens.com for more details.
