[edit] History

The first Australian store was opened on July 5, 1997 in Westfield Shoppingtown Miranda, New South Wales.

The 100 series stores all had the same layouts and finishes respective to store sizes. The 200 series stores have a similar finish on fixtures and counters but is a slightly darker blue. These stores all carried the EB Games logo on the front counters.

In 2003, Electronics Boutique officially started trading as EB Games to stop confusion with the idea they were an electronics store.

[edit] Core business

EB Games' main business is based on selling, trading and reselling of computer and new and second hand video games and game consoles and accessories.
They currently stock PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS Lite, Wii and PlayStation Portable consoles and games.

[edit] Preorders

EB Games Australia requires that you pay $10 AUD minimum deposit on all preorders and usually have special offers or discounts offered to you when you preorder. Special offers include:

  • Trade in a certain amount of games to get a discount or get the preordered game free (The discount can be higher when you trade a game that has only been released)
  • Get a discount on a strategy guide that goes with the preordered game

[edit] Preowned

EB's preowned section covers the above consoles and games but also incorporates their predecessors and other consoles such as
Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation and Xbox.

Whilst this generation and last generations consoles are still carried in every store, only a few stores referred to as vision stores, carry the older generation consoles and games.
