Brief Profile
Kenichiro Fukui made his game music debut at Konami in 1991. His works included the original scores for Violent Storm and GI Joe - A Real American Hero, as well as appearances on the albums Xexex and Kukeiha Club ~ Hope. He joined Square's Osaka branch in 1995 with Tsuyoshi Sekito and crafted the influential techno score to the shooter Einhänder.
While co-composing two rock-based scores for the All Star Pro-Wrestling series with Sekito, Fukui helped to formulate The Black Mages a six-man rock band that arrange and perform Final Fantasy battle themes. Fukui's role as an arranger and keyboardist has been integral to the success of the band's albums and concerts. He will play a major role in their upcoming double disc album.
Fukui took a leading role in the production of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children's music and created electronica once again for Front Mission 5 ~Scars of the War~ and Project Sylpheed. After minimally arranging the score for Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, Fukui left Square Enix in 2007 to become a lecturer, though continues to be member of The Black Mages and make freelance arrangements.
