Assassin's Creed goes to Rome

Ubi conference call says so
Ubisoft has said, during its third quarter financial conference call, that the next Assassin's Creed chapter will see Ezio in Rome, after a fight with the Templar.

The assassin will be traveling to Rome in the next outing from the series, with a Ubisoft rep revealing Ezio's plans is to "strike directly at the heart of the Templar Order" (thanks Kotaku).

The same rep mentioned the multiplayer aspect without giving anything away but did stress the importance of it.

Assassin's Creed 3, or at least the next chapter in the series (it might be a spin off) was unveiled in January, which the company is due to release before March 2011, though a Christmas release is looking likely.

"We have a new Assassin's Creed that we expect will be a very high quality product that as well as an offline component will have a multiplayer component," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said today.

"It is the same studios because it's not only one studio creating the game, but an association of studios and they are working together to make it happen."

excitement for this just went down a few notches. loved AC2, but i was really looking forward to a new time period. Easy money for Ubi though.

Is it actually going to be an official sequel though? I'd expect it to be more of a side story, like Altair's Chronicles that was released for the DS.

I still haven't finished the second one despite loving it. It's just that 700 assasinations later it feels a bit repetative. Maybe after my month break I will enjoy it again. Smile

That settles it, I certainly am not going to get this.

CVG I hate to break it to you but this is not AC3 but merely an offshoot starring Ezio. Ubi already confirmed this.

This wont be assassins creed 3, this will be either chunky GTA style DLC or something else entirely.

*AC2 Spoilers*

think about it, Ezio's story is pretty much done, he's been used to talk to the modern world, by beings who knew the animus would one day be created. Story wise, it needs to move on. Desmond is in the back of a truck, digging through ezios memories just in hope of finding anything else. theres no goal in that world anymore.

And Besides, we've already been to Rome, and we've done with Italy. The next game will probably jump around quite a bit, considering that its the final chapter. i bet we get one or two different time periods, different locations and probably a much more fleshed out modern day with desmond.

Cant wait.

This is rainbow six vegas 2 all over again, just bang out the same game with new missions and some minor changes to grab some easy cash.
