CBS expects 100m viewers for Superbowl

CBS reportedly expects over 100 million viewers for its coverage of this year's Superbowl XLIV.

The annual American football game is traditionally America's most-watched sport broadcast of the year, with over $200m (£125m) spent on advertisements during tonight's event.

According to Top News, Sean McManus, president of CBS News and Sports, said: "If we get a close game, I think we will get extraordinary ratings and a huge audience. And if we get just an okay game, I still think we'll get strong viewership because of the storylines involved."

Audiences have risen from 75.5 million viewers in the Superbowl's first year in 1967 to 151.6 million for last year's clash on NBC.
