1up.com has posted about the release of a Nintendo Ds follow up to House Of The Dead, titled, English Of The Dead. Now I know what you're thinking, which is probably what I was thinking. It takes place in England? Ok, so, why make it the name of the game? We'll, I was wrong. Perhaps you've heard of Typing Of The Dead? Well, what it is, is a game where zombies are attacking you and you have to type words quickly, or you die. It's kind of a semi more fun way to build up your words per minute.
A first person horror shooter on the Ds? Yes. And yes it came out October, but I thought I'd fill you in, because if you haven't played it yet, you should. The name of the game, Dementium: The Ward. 1st of all, the game runs at 60 FPS (Frames Per Second). Most Ds games don't even run at half that. The game is very very smooth for a Nintendo Ds game. And on top of that, it's creepy as hell.
1up.com has posted that Dead Rising 2 is already in development, but by someone other than Capcom. It will be released on multiple systems, none yet stated, and the coding of the game will be done by some other company in Los Angeles. Nothing else to report, but we will keep you updated if anything else is heard.
For those of you who know what NiGHTS is, it originally came out for the Sega Saturn in 1996. It was called, NiGHTS: Into Dreams. A Christmas version of that game was released more towards the end of the year. And NiGHTS: Journey Of Dreams is the sequal to NiGHTS: Into Dreams, released on the Wii only, which is fitting because the main component in this game is the ability of flight. For those of you who know the game(s), it doesn't seem so really fall into the horror category, however, when you are in the dream world, simply known as Nightopia, you end up in what seems to be the nightmare portion where you fight nightmarish monsters, clowns (which I and a lot of people hate), jesters, and all sorts of crazy things.
Update 02/05/2008: Brash Entertainment has contacted us stating they wont have the game ready in time for the movie release in October. The game will still tie in to the movie and be ready sometime in 2009.
02/04/2008: Bloody Disgusting has received some information from sources that the Saw video game will tie directly into the 5th installment of Lionsgate's Saw movies, to be released on October 24th. Saw V was written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, however, the video game script was written by someone who remains anonymous to us. We will keep you updated with more details as they come.
Touchstone is bringing back Turok onto the PC, PS3, and 360. Head onto your PS3 or 360 and download the demo if you haven't already. For those of you who have no idea what this game is, the original game Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, was released 11 years ago on the Nintendo 64. If that name didn't give it away, you're a badass dinosaur hunter. This was a groundbreaking game back when it game out, and really set itself apart from other 1st person shooters. It had great graphics (for 11 years ago), real animal sounds, (not the dinosaurs, because well, that would be impossible, right?), and it was a completely different premise than all the other 1st person shooters.
E.A. is taking us into space. In the game Dead Space, you're sent out to a space mining ship to fix the communications system. But hey, everyone knows you can't just go onto another ship in space, alone, and expect everything to go smoothly, or for there not to be monsters. The game is 3rd person, and the monsters are looking pretty messed up.
If you haven't already seen or heard anything about the new Ghostbusters game, well, you need to get on that. In this new game you take on the role of a new rookie Ghostbuster. All 4 of the original characters from the two movies are are back, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddmore and Peter Venkman. And it's looking like thus far, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray will record the voices for their characters in the game.
Brash Entertainment will be making the Saw video game for the "next gen" consoles. More than likely Playstation 3, and Xbox 360, doesn't seem like a game for the Wii. The game will follow its own storyline, but they want to intertwine it with the movies to reveal more back story on our famous Jigsaw. It looks like they want to release the game around the same time as the movie, sometime in October 2009.
For those horror video game fans, horror fans, and horror video game movie fans, you may or may not be impressed with how video game movies turn out. The Doom movie was a GD joke. House Of The Dead, oh hey I have a great idea, lets stick in some mega pixelated clips from the video game! Resident Evils were good, but they should've stuck to the video game stories. Silent Hill was incredible, and Alone In The Dark the movie.....I mean, come on! Tara Reid trying to pass herself off as some scientist? Christian Slater as Edward Carnby, is just ridiculous!
Cameras Lens posted that Fatal Frame will be coming to the Wii. It was past rumored that it would be coming to Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, but as of right now it only seems to be coming to the Wii.
It's been a long 4 years since Silent Hill 4: The Room came out and sent me back into nightmares and cold sweats. But I can deal with that seeing what I've seen so far of Silent Hill 5(V). And that really isn't much. Head over to GameTrailers.com and check out the Teaser or the Gameplay videos.
For over a decade the Resident Evil series has been wowing us and changing gaming for most gamers, and really giving a name to the survival horror genre. I've spent many many many hours playing plenty of Resident Evil games in the dark around the midnight hour scaring the crap out of myself. Hands reaching through boarded up windows, Nemesis busting through random walls, zombies crawling out from under tables, lickers dropping from the ceiling, and opening a locker, or closet door completely disregarding the fact that there is probably something undead waiting inside. The Resident Evils are by far one of the best horror game series if not the best to date.
After a lot of waiting and anticipation, Devil May Cry 4 will be here soon for PS3, 360, and the PC. And now you can go online with your PS3 and 360 and download the DMC4 game demo. The game impressed me a lot more than the previous Devil May Cry games. There were only a couple off putting things I noticed while play the game (They did put a disclaimer at the beginning of the game that stated it is a demo and may be buggy.).
