If you were interested in Call Of Duty World At War Zombies, (which I will abbreviate CODWAWZ) for the iPhone or iPod Touch, nows the time to take a test drive. You can download CODWAWZ Lite right now.
The lite version will offer three rounds of the Night of the Undead map in single player, explore the map and access a multitude of weapons from the Mystery Box. Multiplayer fans will be able to play for two rounds via Wi-Fi, locally or across the Internet with four players or two players over Bluetooth.
Kotaku posted what we might have all been wondering, and that is how Marcus and Dom from Gears Of War ended up in Lost Planet 2. Well, it's very simple.
Capcom contacted Epic. It seems that it's as simple as that. "They [Capcom] contacted us about the cameo and we said 'heck yeah,'" Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski tells Kotaku. "We're mutual fans of each other's work and crossovers are darned cool so we sent over the Marcus and Dom models for implementation." Read the rest over at Kotaku.
Despite the fact that the horror genre is raking in record sales, one of the granddaddies of the genre is having trouble keeping up. That franchise would be Konami’s Silent Hill, which has had a slew of poorly received titles beginning with The Room. Everything after that took a nosedive in quality and despite handing the last installment in the main series, Homecoming, to an American developer, repetitive gameplay and a convoluted story kept the game from becoming the next-gen survival horror experience we all hoped it would be.
I’d like to throw out some possible ways Konami can use to fix the series, and I feel I need to do this for more than just to help an ailing franchise. In my opinion the term ‘Survival Horror’ can no longer be used to describe most of the titles in the horror genre. In an attempt to become more mainstream developers have created new subgenres like Action Horror and Cooperative Horror. The former category houses titles like Dead Space, F.E.A.R., Doom and Condemned. The latter contains consists of Resident Evil 4 & 5, Left 4 Dead and Killing Floor. This leaves only a handful of series that I can seriously consider survival horror, games like Fatal Frame and Silent Hill. Obviously, old school mechanics like “find the red key, open the door, run from the monster, find the blue key, open the other door and fight the boss” are a thing of the past and should stay there. So here are some ideas I’ve scrounged together that I think could quite possibly save one of gaming’s last true survival horror series.
You can get Annihilation Undead on your iPhone right now, and just released for the game is the second chapter. Just like most zombie games this one puts you in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. You can use over 20 different crazy weapons to wreck your way through the hordes of zombies.
The new chapter introduces two new game modes, Scavenge and Frenzy, and a new high-tech weapon, the Laser Rifle. In the new Scavenge mode, the game will now be played where you must collect weapons from around the level, where as normally you are given them in a steady progression. In frenzy mode, you have times challenges to destroy as many zombies as you can in a certain amount of time. You can get chapter 2 in the app. store now for only $1.99. Screens bast the break.
Well, I hope that got your attention somehow. Here is the big news. You will be able to play as Gears Of War's Marcus and Dom in the new Lost Planet 2, coming out for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 May 4th of this year. Not much else is known, like if they will be downloadable, or unlockable etc, but I will let you know if anything new arises.
I couldn't be more excited to be honest. Just like collaborations in music, I think it would be awesome if more games, or ANY games, joined together, mixing characters, levels, gameplay etc. You can also check the video out in full HD glory on Xbox Live.
I have quite a lot of these to give away. Somewhere in the amount of 100ish to give away actually. Before that though, let me introduce you to the game in case you aren't at all interested. City Of Eternals is an online only Vampire MMO. The game takes place in a modern world of Vampires. You even get your own Sims style house to decorate in your own Vampiric way.
The game is connected to Facebook so you can connect with friends on Facebook, make new ones, recruit minions etc. The game when out, will be free to play with not too brutal of graphics that should run on most newer systems. Head past the break for features and how to get into the Beta.
In this Aliens Vs Predator the developers talk about the original AvP from 1999 and the new one and they show comparative videos. They really liked the way it was done back in 99, and wanted to use that for inspiration.
The game releases February 16th for PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. If you feel like spending $100.00 dollars instead of $60.00, you can get the "Hunters Edition" of the game for the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360. It's surprisingly worth it if you want to drop the cash. See why past the break.
In case you were a little skeptical about buying Zombie Driver you can test it out right now. The demo has the 1st 3 story mode missions and you can download it directly off Steam. There are several other places you can get it as well FilePlanet, FileFront, Gamespot, Bigdownload, and AtomicGamer among others.
On top of the demo, EXOR Studios also announced they'll soon release a free DLC upgrade for the game introducing a survival mode. Players will have to test their skills against waves of bloodthirsty undead on a new set of specially crafted arenas. No release date was stated for the DLC yet.
Something excellent to look forward to will be the upcoming DLC for Resident Evil 5. Parts of what you only got to see in the game you will actually get to play. I don't want to give anything away for those who are yet to play the game. I'm having trouble uploading the trailer right now so check out these screens until I can get it up.
Past the break for all DLC release dates and screens.
I want to give a big thanks to Blood-Sicles for all the following info you're about to receive. As of right now, Fatal Frame 4 will not be coming to America. HOWEVER, you can play it, on your Wii. There is now a patch out so you can play the Japanese version on your Wii. How?
Buy the game from Japan. RETAIL copy of the game (will NOT work with rips) FROM HERE. Next step, download the patch from HERE. Put it on a 1-2 gig SD card. You put it in your Wii along with the Japanese game. Check out this FORUM for info!
I have got to say, I am pretty excited for Lost Planet 2. 4 player co-op campaign mostly. I can't wait to tear through this game like I would through Halo or Left 4 Dead with mt friends. I had fun with the 1st game, and this game is looking so much better. The demo was awesome, they really amped it up. If you haven't downloaded the demo yet, download it and convince 3 of your friends to do the same, because you can play the demo online with friends.
Check out some screens beyond the break and the game comes out May 4th for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
I'm still waiting for it to come to consoles, but Dawn Of The Dead is out right now iPhone and iPod Touch. The game is semi based off the remake of Dawn Of The Dead, and was released back in 2004.
“We are thrilled to bring this hit movie to life as we challenge gamers of all levels to defeat the undead and survive by any means necessary, ” says Bytemark CEO, Jon Walsh. You can check out all the details you need to know about the game, along with some screen shots beyond the break.
It’s official, if the 2008/2009 comprised the Age of the Zombie, and 2010 looks to continue this trend; this is the year of the Spectacle Fighter. Not sure what that is? Well, I just made it up so that’s understandable. For a game to be considered a member of this elite subgenre they have to have over the top action, intense combat, and usually more than a couple button mashing sequences and convoluted stories. Some good examples would be Devil May Cry and God of War, though the latter’s story is actually quite good. This year we were welcomed by not one but two new entries, at the same time no less, called Bayonetta and Darksiders. With Dante’s Inferno waiting for us in February and God of War III following the month after that (hopefully), this year is looking good for fans of the genre.
But this isn’t called The Headlines in the Spectacle Fighter Genre, so let’s move on. After the jump I’ve scrounged up a healthy dose of horror news related to Dead Space 2, Dead Rising 2, Deadly Premonition, and yes, the BioShock series as well, which looks to be growing quite fast if you read the title of this article. I won’t keep you any longer so let’s just dive right in to this week’s Headlines in Horror, shall we?
Sega just released this new 'Killmoves' trailer for the upcoming Aliens Vs Predator game. Thanks to SSx13x90 for the heads up. So make sure to check it out below and watch out for the games release on February 16th, for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
This has been a truly amazing year for survival horror games. By September 2009, records had already been broken as the genre raked in almost $150 million worth of thrills and chills. That was before a few heavy hitters like Dead Space: Extraction, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and Left 4 Dead 2 hit retail shelves so by now it’s safe to say 2009 pretty much rocked. To commemorate such a fantastic time for horror fans we’ve come up with some awards dedicated solely to the horror genre. You won’t find a “Best Visuals”, “Best Music”, or even a “Game of the Year” award amongst the categories below; instead we’ve decided to focus on the little things. The more obscure but no less impressive feats.
Yes, we’re going to let you decide what you think is the best survival horror game of the year (coming soon) just like the past 2 years, but we have opinions too. Some of us even have good ones. Now you will read those opinions, varying in quality, but always interesting. So read on to see what we, your mentors and heroes consider to be the best horror games 2009 has to offer. After you finish allowing this beautiful wave of awesome opinions wash over you, you can shuffle on over to the comments section and let us know how much you disagree.
Alan Wake was originally announced at E3 in 2005. Then nothing was shown until end of 2008. And slowly, very slowly things have been surfacing. The game is set to release April 12th for the 360 only, so I'm hoping in the next few months we start seeing a lot more on the game.
What's it about you ask? Alan Wake, is bestselling writer who has had a wicked case of writers block for over 2 years. His wife Alice takes him to a small town known as Bright Falls, in hopes of sparking back up his creativity. But then she vanishes, and Alan watches his latest thriller which he doesn't even remember writing unfold before his eyes. Past the break for screens.

L4DMods posted about a fan made Left 4 Dead movie that is being made right now and you can check out the teaser trailer past the break. For a fan made film it's looking pretty good. I'm pretty excited seeing as for right now it's the closest thing we are going to have to an actually movie based off the game.
