What BD Review Deserves a RE-DO?
6:51pm, January 25, 2010

Bloody-Disgusting. OK, Total Film - maybe not the best horror blog site out there (that poll was a mismanaged crock of shit) - but we are the number one horror website on the planet. With this in mind, check out Bloody-Disgusting's official review for George Romero's horror genre masterpiece, 1978's DAWN OF THE DEAD, in its entirety, right here:

What is there to say about one of the greatest horror films of all time? Well not much seeing as how everything has already been said.

This film litteraly has everything. Tom Savini's great special effects, George Romero's great direction. I can watch this movie religously. Along with Day of the Dead, and the original Night of the Living Dead these are the BEST zombie films of all time.

After a week of the living dead walking amongst the living, a zombie elimination team is called in to eraticate the problem, but for 4 runners in a mall, death is only a small problem.

Out of the 3 living dead films this one had the best impact on me for one reason or another. I don't know why, but everytime I watch I just get a shaky feeling all over. I hope if they do the remake they won't completly butcher it like Planet of the Apes, or Rollerball.

THATS IT

With the website closing in on its 10th year anniversary, its fair to say that in its earliest days, perhaps some incomplete or inaccurate reviews were posted. The rating for 1978's DAWN OF THE DEAD is accurate, but the writeup leaves a lot to be desired. This, and the recent attention brought to SESSION 9's rating on BD - 3 out of 10 (for one of BD's top 20 films of the decade) has led me to ask the daily readers one question:

In your opinion - what films do you think need re-reviews on the site?

Good question!

AllMustPay 9:23pm, January 25, 2010

Hey John, thanks for recognizing that shitty review for Session 9, as a film student I would love to re-write some of the reviews for this site. It could be a pretty cool contest for the site if they decided to do something like that...

Blair Witch Project Needs 10 for Awesomeness

JonnyRotten 10:31pm, January 25, 2010

audition was terrible I thought and it got a ten... Then NOES only got a nine! WTF

JonnyRotten 10:33pm, January 25, 2010

Now that the Asian craze has died down I think some of those films need to be looked at again and rereviewed

JonnyRotten 10:39pm, January 25, 2010

Oh yeah and open water was terrible

Ripvanryan 11:45pm, January 25, 2010

Jonny Rotten's mama deserves a re-do. Audition owns!

deadlover 12:42am, January 26, 2010

Audition is straight up badass. Creepy as fuck, and badass.

Dawn of the Cal 1:13am, January 26, 2010

Them, I still have not idea what you saw in this French crap.

ReplicA 1:31am, January 26, 2010

I don't know, I don't really come here for reviews so much as news, and the podcasts. But I don't normally read reviews at all anyway, and make up my own mind, whether or not a movie is good. The only times I'll actively look for a review is if I've seen a movie i'm not too sure how I feel about yet. Martyrs was good example. I liked it, but I wasn't sure why. Listened to Double Murder, and Danny! and Tim helped put it all in perspective for me. (Need a new ep of Double Murder, guys. Work that shit out!!) But I can totally see why other people would want a review re-do. We all want our favorite movies to be successful, and our most hated to do poorly.

JohnMarrone 7:51am, January 26, 2010

Oh man, what a can of worms...

violent_reaction 9:25am, January 26, 2010

We need another good review of the horde but from Mr D this time, theres a fairly good review of the film on here already but then he always blasts the movie when he gets the chance.I'm sure a few people wouldnt mind hearing why.

slipknot611 9:56am, January 26, 2010

One word: Martyrs. Was I not ready for this movie? Was it too far out there for me to understand? Was it too far removed from my cro-magnon horror diet of silent killers and zombie apocalypse to appeal to me? No... I don't think any of that was it. The movie simply blew monkey nuts.

PresidentObama 10:39am, January 26, 2010

Redoing reviews is a great idea but IMO, I think there are too many movies on this site with no reviews yet. Example: Some of Dario Argento films.

grendle308 10:58am, January 26, 2010

The Hills Have Eyes remake has two official skull ratings.

gorebath 11:48am, January 26, 2010

Session fuckin 9

gorebath 11:57am, January 26, 2010

Day of the Dead remake.....Nick Cannon rules. :)

deLiriUM 12:08pm, January 26, 2010

someone needs to review the original wolf man. you know, the one from 1941 starring lon chaney jr that takes place in victorian england. plz.

STC9892 2:51pm, January 26, 2010

Rogue. Didn't really understand what was so great about that movie, even for a B-grade DTV creature feature.

SplatterKing802 5:11pm, January 26, 2010

RE-DO Tex's review of Quarantine, such a crappy movie. I'd rather watch beverly hills chihuahua than that crap.

JohnMarrone 7:39pm, January 26, 2010

I havent read the review but Ill check it out in a sec. The only thing I dont get is all the heavy siding REC vs Quarantine gets. Ive seen them both and although REC seemed a bit sharper, Quarantine was tense and Carpenter acted awesome and it was one of the best movie experiences of its year - both of them. Can you spell it out - why one's better than the other? Because I thought that Quarantine was one of the better foreign re-do's ever done.

StubS 9:18pm, January 26, 2010

Session 9, I bunch of us have been clammering for that for awhile now.

StubS 9:18pm, January 26, 2010

A*

Skcumfuvker25 11:33pm, January 26, 2010

The hate comes from it being a remake JohnMarrone. Everyone gets into this remake hate frenzy and I quite don't understand it. Yes some are horrid remakes with only the name left intact, but some are actually good if not boarding on better then the source material (i.e. Carpenters The Thing ). I always wondered about that same reaction to Quarantine as well since it pretty much is a beat for beat remake of REC just in a different part of the world. The ONLY difference I see is **SPOILER** REC's source was Religious based(possessions/devil/priest) and Quarantine was Science based(Rabies). That makes sense because to the Spainish the Religion angle plays to their deep Catholic roots where as the Science angle is something American audiences can relate to. Sorry got a bit off topic there but that is the jist of it.

Screamer 2:04pm, January 27, 2010

How about you guys review each of the Scream movies seperately. I know you guys have a review up for the Trilogy, but I would love to read your guy's thoughts on each entry. At leasttt do this before Scream 4 comes out, lol. Maybe as a countdown or something.

Celebrity Killing Spree 3:06am, January 29, 2010

Perhaps not a re-do as much as more than one 'official' review. I doubt that movie goers who do take the time to consider reviewers make their decisions solely based on one review alone. I give at the very least a perfunctory glass to two or three. That being said if I were to choose one that needed to be re-reviewed I would go with Inside, because of all the reviews I've read here that is the one I think deserves a second perspective the most.

Choo Choo Dellamorte 5:05pm, January 29, 2010

This is annoying. Don't redo ANY reviews unless you truly believe it needs a change, or to be updated in any fashion. B-D gives us the option to submit USER REVIEWS for a reason. This is only going to open the door, as witnessed by some of the above posts, for some of the most ridiculous requests for redo's. Did I really read somebody asking for a redo on the Day of the Dead Remake, but because Nick Cannon rules? Is that a joke? Even if it was a joke, that's exactly why this isn't a good idea. I love that this site loves its reader feedback, but I don't like this. You guys have been at the top of the Online Horror News and Information Mountain for years now, I've trusted your reviews and opinions since 2002, and although there are many different films I wouldn't totally agree with the ratings and reviews for, you've worked pretty damn hard to get this website to where it's at now and deserve the right to review any Horror Film the way you want. Like I said, if the Users of this website don't agree with your review for a film, they have the option to post their own review right here on this site! If anything, I agree with Celebrity Killing Spree that you should just add a differing 'Official' Review. As long as it doesn't get to the point where there's more than 2-3 'Official' reviews, it's great to read the contrast in reviews and get a couple TRUSTED source's opinions on a film. But come on, half of the requests here in the comments are out in left field.

Justin_Voorhees 8:15pm, January 30, 2010

any review where the reviewer was clearly paid off to give it a positive review...eg. Mr.D and Zombieween 2

patricktullius 9:16pm, February 4, 2010

Maybe BD needs to add more films to the vault.. because honestly whenever I'm looking up a review for a horror film and go here to look for it.. it seems like it's never here... For example.. the other night I looked up Cat's Eye.. and there was nothing..
