Tift Merritt - Buckingham Solo (Live)

Pop/Folk - After a soul-searching songwriting exodus to the quiet of a secluded Parisian flat, Tift Merritt returned from her journey last year with a new batch of songs that ultimately ended up as Another Country, an album that garnered critical praise but struggled to find a niche in the usual maze of industry marketing and radio genre territories.

An "exquisitely written record full of balm for the heart-sore" raved Elle while AP said it had "...a smart, sardonic quality reminiscent of Jackson Browne ...the soulful tenderness of Norah Jones...the bubbly folk melodicism of Feist... a new and compelling direction for Merritt." Still, like a handful of other songwriters who straddle country, pop and rock, it was the welcoming fans of yet another country - England - where Merritt found some her most adoring and supportive fans.

New live album Buckingham Solo captures that special connection in an intimate solo performance recorded last November at an old church in Buckingham, England. With just a guitar and piano, Merritt finds the sweet and tender heart of some of her best songs and renders them with a voice that Newsweek has called a "magical combination of cool reserve and effortless warmth."
